MOVICI

Modelling Online Vigilance and Institutions in the Communication of Information

MOVICI is a research programme examining how people search for, evaluate, learn from, and exchange information in digital and social environments. Its central concern is epistemic vigilance: how people decide what deserves attention, trust, verification, epistemic credit, and integration into knowledge.

The programme combines a theoretical framework (CAVL — Cognitive Architecture for Vigilant Learning), empirical studies of open Web search and cooperative or competitive debate, and an agent-based model exploring how local learning and credit-allocation mechanisms can generate cumulative trajectories over repeated interactions.

Across these studies, MOVICI connects prior knowledge, metacognition, information search, source evaluation, expertise recognition, epistemic credit, social interaction, and socially structured opportunities to learn.
